In December 2004, Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) legislation was passed and signed into law. This bill requires participating childcare facilities and homes to maintain quality care accreditation and higher education standards for staff.
Our lesson plans all follow a different monthly theme, such as Furry and Feather Friends, Splash and Dig, and Healthy You. Daily activities revolve around the theme of the month. For example, during our Healthy You month, students will learn about nutrition and the importance of staying physically active.
At this stage, we work towards making sure our children are on path to becoming efficient thinkers and problem-solvers. We encourage critical thinking through activities that include a lot of writing, journaling, and hands-on learning rooted in S.T.E.M. Early exposure to S.T.E.M helps to boost a child’s academic development as it helps foster their critical thinking and reasoning skills.
We also offer wraparound schedules to complement our core VPK Program. The VPK Program schedule and included activities vary by each location, so please check with each school director for more information and program details.
Developmental goals for our VPK Program
- Becoming efficient thinkers and problem-solvers.
- Developing and maintaining a positive self-concept and healthy self-esteem.
- Understanding responsibility and time management.
- Developing effective communication and teamwork skills.
